The Monroe Street Branch of the Madison Public Library offers a popular selection of books, videos, magazines and newspapers, CDs and books-on-tape--materials for all ages. Originally established in 1944, the library has been in its present location since 1962, and is one of two branches (from a total of eight) in the Madison Public Library system owned by the city. Through LINKcat, the shared online library catalog of the South Central Library System, Monroe Street Branch patrons can order books, magazines, audio materials, videos and DVDs from any other member library (that's over 2,250,000 items representing over 600,000 different titles). In other words, if you don't see what you're looking for, we can order it for you.

Dudgeon-Monroe/Vilas Neighborhood Association Contractor Surveys and Recommendations
Check out what homeowners have to say about their experiences with various contractors in the Madison area. People can also add to the surveys and evaluations anytime. These notebooks are available for viewing in the library, just ask at the desk.

Author/Photographer Lecture

Wednesday, June 4
7 pm
Monroe Street Library

Photographer Zane Williams will show slides and lecture about his current book, "Doubletake, a re-photographic of Madison" sponsored by South Central Library Association. Lecture may be cancelled if Mr. Williams gets a last minute photography opportunity. Call the library (266-6390) to confirm the time and date.

Book Discussion Series

The Monroe Street Branch is currently hosting an ongoing book discussion series. Anyone is welcome to attend; for more information call 266-6390.

Multiple copies of the books being discussed will be made available for checkout at least four weeks prior to the programs. If you need accommodations to attend these programs, please call 266-6342 or TDD# 266-6314 two weeks in advance.

Laugh It Up @ Your Library

This year's summer reading program starts June 6th. Celebrate the last day of school and sign up!

Preschool Storytimes

10:45 a.m. Tuesdays, June 10, 17, 24, July 1. For children ages 5 and under. No registration required.

Toddler Times

10:10 a.m. Tuesdays, June 10, 17, 24, July 1. For children ages 18-35 months with an adult. Length: 20 minutes. Limit: 10 children and 10 adults. Registration for the entire series is required. Call 266-6345 beginning Friday, May 23 to register.
